This support group for teen relatives of alcoholics meets locally.

Alcoholics Anonymous - 780-424-5900

This group meets twice a week in Gibbons. For information on local meeting times, call the listed number.

Alcohol And Drug Abuse Commission - 780-427-2736

24 hr. Emergency Service - 780-427- 4291

Encourages individuals in the development of healthy attitudes and behaviors through education on abuse of alcohol and drugs.

Alberta Human Resources - Income Support - 780-458-9400

To help people who have little or no income to live on and its also set up to help people who can work to get the opportunities they need to become independent.

Bon Accord & Gibbons Food Bank - 780- 923-2344

The food bank provides food bags for individuals and families with short term needs. This group requires assistance from the community by way of donations of food or money. Donations can be made by calling the above mentioned contact.

Capital Health-Gibbons - 780-923-3700

A variety of services is provided through the Gibbons Health Office, from pre-natal classes, baby clinics, speech therapy, pre-school health screening, mental health services and public health inspection services. Call your health unit for more information.  Provides Home Care and other services to residents in our region.

Capital Health Link is available to you 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.  One phone call will connect you to a Registered Nurse who can answer your questions and give you sound advice whenever you need it.  Get answers to your health questions (based on physician-reviewed information), find out about Capital Health programs and services or provide feedback.  All calls are treated professionally and confidentially.

Protects children from abuse or neglect. Provides a toll free emergency telephone number where all suspected cases of child neglect or child abuse can be reported.

Offers a 24 hr. telephone service for people in any crisis or problem situation. Information/referral is provided to available community services.

Family and Community Support Services - 780- 923-3331
Through F.C.S.S., many services, activities and programs are made available. These services are provided with the intention of promoting and enhancing family and community life. Volunteerism and prevention are emphasized, and F.C.S.S. helps the community help itself.

Meals on Wheels Program - 780-923-3331

This service is available to seniors who have difficulty in preparing their own meals. Hot, nutritious meals are delivered three times per week, by volunteer drivers. There is a small fee for the meals. Call F.C.S.S. for information.

Provides education to grade nine students on the dangers of high risk behaviors.

Planned Parenthood Association - 780-423-3737

Call the poison center for treatment information of acute poisoning, help with drug overdose, bites and stings, pesticide information, safe plants for the home, industrial exposure and information on poison prevention.
St. Albert Association For Persons With Disabilities - 780-458-7371 ext. 27

Provides community and family support for persons with disabilities. Provides community living options for adults with disabilities.

Sexual Assault Center of Edmonton - 780-423-4102

Provides information, education, assistance and support to victims of sexual assault, their family and friends.

Sturgeon Early Childhood Development Initiative - Susan Evans - 1-866-939-9309

Provides subsidies to assist children ages 0-6 and their families with limited financial resources so they can access existing educational and development programs.

Sturgeon Literacy Program - 780-921-3589

Located at the Sturgeon Learning Centre Gibbons, Alberta. Provides one on one volunteer tutoring to adults wishing to upgrade their reading or writing skills. Volunteer tutors are provided training and support.

Sunflower Community Resource Program - 780- 923-2374

Provides assistance to the community with learning about and accessing resources in the community and areas surrounding. This program is a one stop information and resource centre.

Terra, The Association For Assistance To Unwed Mothers - 780-465- 9272

Women's Emergency Accommodation Center-780-423-5302

Provides Emergency housing for homeless transient women without funds.

Victim Services Unit - Sturgeon Region - 780-459-7682

Redwater & District - 780- 942-3704


Victim Services provides support, information and referrals to victims of crime and tragedy. This program works with the R.C.M.P. to assist victims when dealing with initial shock or crisis.
